Finally home!
Well I got home yesterday (Tuesday the 9th) at about 4:00 pm, I think. Anyway I have 5 tapes full of video and lots of pictures. I am currently working on them. I will try to post the pictures soon, but it takes a long time. Well on to what happened over the few days I didn't post. So last Saturday we went to Prince of Wales island. We took a 3 hour ferry ride, in which we saw dolphins or something like that swimming by the boat. We got there haveing no idea what was going to happen, just that we were supposedly staying at a church. We ended up meeting the person taking us to the church and drove their. It was cool! The church was very small and they were building a bunch of cabins and a bathhouse and a new worship hall. Basically we learned they plan on turning it into a christian camp. We ended up staying in a cabin with 2 other guys, a 13 year old and his 15 year old brother from Oregon, along with their counsler guy named Troy. They were all very cool. We ended up going sightseeing that day it was cool. We went to this creek thing with some waterfalls and went part way up it. There was a ton of dead fish (about 20) that we say everywhere! We asked why they were they and it was aparently because they spawned there and then died! It smelled way bad though! So then we looked in the water and their was about 5 or so fish all trying to get up the waterfall by jumping up and over each other! It was crazy! We also found a salamander thing which was cool. So we went some other places and their was waterfalls everywhere along the road. You couldn't drive 2 mintutes without seeing one! We saw the docks and the school, hah. .. tiny tiny tiny, and the library and more nature. It was so cool! We had worship with them that night and basically sang most of the songs without the instraments cause no one was very good at playing, it was actually very cool! So we then spent the night, the next day we ran the service and we did some testimonies and sang songs and grant did his lesson. It all went really well! The people were so nice. I also found out that they want people for next year to come help out as junior counslers at camp. They want 15-16 year olds. I SO want to go. I am already praying about it! So then Monday, we went site seeing around Ketchikan. We went to the other side of the island. All the way from one end of the road to the other. We ended up going up this trail next to this huge waterfall. Actually it was only the original 5 kids, me, Jonathan, Jeffery, Lauren and Grant. We went way up apparently for 1 hour (though it felt like 30min) It was probably one of the funest things we did. Jonathan and Jeffery eventually went back down and waited for us part way, because they were worried that the others would worry. 2 min later as I figured we hit the top. Or as far as you can go without wading across the waterfall creek thing. So we went back down, and apparently we were in trouble, but nothing major happend. Though we did learn that you are never supposed to go on that trail without a dog because of the bears and the dogs scare them away. They were told that along with that it was basically to hot for the bears to come out from a tour guide from the cruise ships. That seemed pretty cool to us. SO then we went to dinner and then youth group. THe youth group was very quite but polite to us. After that we played basketball and one kid named Paul played with us, he was really cool. Good at basketball also. The next day we left. Oh but first that night, Monday night, Me and Jeffery and Grant and Jonathan all decided to stay up all night. Well we stayed up till 6:00 am. Haha! Then we got about an hour of sleep till we woke up, ate breakfast and left on the plane. Everyone in Alaska was awesome. I will miss them all. Thank you all for supporting me and the rest of the Breakout troup through prayer and money. I hope I can do something like it again. Look back here for pictures later!
